My wife had been wanting to go to Yvettes for some time so I (normally bad about making any plans) took her here for Valentine's Day. We were greeted at the door by Bob, the owner who proceeded to make us feel right at home.{P}We were seated in a booth, side-by-side with a decent view of the stage on which there was a live jazz band. I was pleased that the waiter brought a long-stemmed rose for my wife since about all I'd done on this `day for romance` was bring her in from the suberbs to dinner.{P}
Our waiter seemed to be a bit overwhelmed, perhaps, they were short one server for the evening. When taking our order, he had a strange habit of smiling while he talked, but completely dropping the smile as he turned away.{P}
It was a pre fixe menu for $39. I started with the duck pate and my wife had a salmon cake. These were served with a lightly dressed salad. Neither of us were crazy about the pate, but had to draw a perfect line to split the salmon cake.{P}
For entree we both had the filet mignon. While I have enjoyed better, this was one of the finest steaks I've had in a while. For dessert, I had the terimisu cheesecake (light & tasty), my wife had the chocolate mousse cake (a bit too rich for her liking).{P}
Overall, we felt the food was definately above average, but the atmosphere was great --- relaxed, not stuffy ... and the live jazz was perfect for a bit of romance. Our waiter redeemed himself by selecting and helping us relocate to a table near the bar and right next to the music. Here we had a few drinks and listened to the singer (who, by her jokes, seemed to have had a few drinks herself!) ... it was all pleasant. We danced to a few slow tunes and called it a night -- a very nice time (I'm hoping I scored some points with the wife)!
